The Mania is Back!!! A few thoughts on WWE Hell in A Cell + No Mercy

Hell_20in_20a_20Cell_1501282439006_63524014_ver1.0_640_480.0.0

Did everyone see Shane Mcmahon jump off the cell, last sunday at WWE Hell in a Cell? Well Shane missed his target, Kevin Owens( who was saved by Sami Zayn) and completely obliterated himself through the Spanish announce table.   WWE needed to create a new moment that they can associate with the Hell in a Cell and for nearly twenty years  they used UnderTaker throwing Mankind off the Hell at King of the Ring 1998,  so this takes its place as the new “OMG” hell in a cell moment that the Universe will talk about

Shinsuke lost again to Jinder Mahal, who is a great heel but shouldnt be World Champion. Hes just Blah. his entrance is cool and he cuts a mean promo here and there but somethings missing. Shinsuke needs to find Aj Styles and find him fast. Speaking of AJ Styles, he lost his United States title to Baron Corbin in a Triangle match, also featuring Tye Dillinger. The perfect 10 is great. Corbin gets  a title, to make up for a lackluster last few months.

The Usos defeated The New Day in an excellent tag team hell in a cell match. Very creative spots in this match, using the Singapore Canes to trap someone in the corner of the cell was very cool, I.ve never seen that before. A LOT of Cane shots in this match (Some Where Sandman is smiling)  I have to tip my hat to Xavier Woods for being one of the most successful guys in WWE, having his pulse on anything WWE does video game related. His UP Up Down Down channel is very fun to watch, and was recently Raiden from Mortal Kombat in a Video Game.

Rusev needs to start winning. He needs to come out ontop in this feud with Orton. I also think Orton is very protected in his character. Yes he loses, but its usually not a clean loss.

Bobby Roode Beat Diggles Daggles(Dolph Ziggler) in a match that i thought was good. After the match DZ laid out Roode.  Before the match started, Dolph walked out to no theme or titan tron, which i think is cool.

Charlotte won, via DQ when Natayla hit Charlottes’s knee with a steel chair, retaining her title. No Cash in by Carmella or interference by Paige.

NO Mercy Thoughts

That Tag Team match. Ambrose and Rollins defeated The Bar to retain the Tag Team straps in one of the best matches of the year. Cesaro chipped his front Teeth, which must have hurt like a bastard.

Roman and Cena had a amazing match that saw Big match John lose to the Big Dog. It was a great send off for Cena, who is taking time away from WWE to film a boat load of movies and tv stuff. WWE teased this as “Cenas Last Match”

BRRRAAAAUNNN Should have defeated Lesner for the title. “The Abominable Strowman” was being made to look like a very serious threat to Lesner’s reign and the crowd was being him 100% but he still lost clean to one f-5.

Bret won his very first WWF championship off the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, during a episode of PrimeTime Wrestling in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; Stu Hart’s old stomping ground. This is a Great little match that solidifies two of the very best in pro wrestling. Its a great feel good moment from Old School WWF. Plus the commentary is on point from Gorilla Monsoon and Lord Alfred Hayes.

Here’s his first promo as WWF Champion with Gene Okerlund.

WrestleMania Memories- Owen Hart vs Bret Hart Wrestlemania 10

In 1994, Bret Hart was on top of WWF. at that time he was a one time WWF Champion, the inaugural King of the Ring, and the Co-Winner of that Years Royal Rumble along with Lex Luger. Everyone in the wwf had Bret’s back….but one Superstar in the back wasn’t impressed and that was Bret’s own little brother Owen. Owen was obliviouly jealous and couldnt handle living in the shadow of Bret, so Owen issued the challenge to see who is the better between the brothers.

This match is A classic, one of the best opening matches in Wrestlemania history. you don’t need to worry about natch quality when Bret hart is on the card, but add His brother Owen and its one of the best in WWF history. Vince McMahon and Jerry Lawler play Face/Heel commentators with Vinny Mac pushing for the “honor filled” Hitman, as The King relentlessly attacks Stu and Helen Hart, and bringing up how bret was the bully during Owen and Brets childhood.

Bret also went on to wrestle in WrestleMania 10’s main event, defeated YokoZuna for his 2nd WWF championship.

WWE 2017 Royal Rumble Reaction

Remember the Rumble? Yes. As pro wrestling fans we always look forward to the Royal Rumble every year, as we look forward to seeing who will be the next entrant into the fray. Surprises like Bob Backland in 2000, HackSaw Jim Duggan in 2012, Diesel in 2011, and John Cena amazing return in 2008. This year’s rumble although very exciting and filled with action, lacked a few surprise entrants. Even though We, as fan were hinting at the likes of Finn Balor’s return, or the main roster debut of Samoa Joe or Shelton Benjamin, None of these thing happened at the rumble. Brock Lesner being eliminated by Goldberg after a spear further cements the upcoming WrestleMania match. Roman coming in at number 30 was a controversial, but interesting choice, even if t Roman did eliminate Hometown hero, The Undertaker, but with the elimination does come a hint of a Heel turn. The rumble was an exciting match overall. I was rooting for Baron Corbin who had a massive elimination of Braun Strowman. Chris Jericho is now known as the “sixty-one minute man” lasting a minute over an hour in the rumble. Jack Gallagher was fun, his top rope Mary Poppins Spot. Tye Dillinger coming out at #10 worked. Mark Henry and BigShow returned, big fan of Henry. Good, entertaining rumble, but lacked surprises.  Oh and Randy Orton won the 2017 Royal Rumble.

Bayley Vs Charlotte was a great match, its good to see the heel/face balance played well, bayley being the spunky WWE fan dream come true vs Charlotte Flair “Spoiled, Entitled Perfect Heel”, Charlotte gets the win via pin after a natural selection on the ring apron.

Neville Beat Rich Swann for the WWE CruiserWeight title.

Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship. No disqualification with Chris Jericho suspended above the ring in a shark cage. This was a long match for both of these men, and it was awesome. Kevin Owens took one hell of a beating from Roman, who looked very strong. Owens set up this tower of chairs and it looked like it would deal a lot of pain to whom ever was unfortunate to be put through it. And it was Kevin Owens who eventually went crashing through via a Superman Punch. A great spot in the match when Kevin Owens delivered a awesome looking Frog Splash to Roman through a table. Chris Jericho got involved, as we figured he would, by dropping Brass Knuckles to Owens who proceeded to hit roman with his own version of the superman punch, smacking reigns in the mush, in which reigns kicked out after the pin attempt. The finish was very exctiting too, as Braun Stowman interfered and chokeslamed Reigns through the announce table (he didn’t even bother taking away the monitors) giving Owens the win, and retaining his Universal title

Aj Styles vs John Cena for the WWE Championship.  A+ match . These men went back and forth with each other. JohnCena performed an Attitude Adjustment and Styles a Phenomenal Forearm, both scoring near-falls. A trade of reversals of Styles’s Calf Crusher and Cena’s STF followed. Styles applied the STF, but Cena escaped the hold. Cena applied the Figure Four, which Styles countered into a Cross Armbreaker, which Cena escaped. Both men scored near-falls, Styles after a Styles Clash and Cena after a Super Attitude Adjustment. Styles attempted a Phenomenal Forearm, but Cena caught him, performed two Attitude Adjustments and pinned Styles to win the WWE Championship, tying Ric Flair with 16 World title reigns.

The Road to Wrestlemania Begins…..

Wake up with Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit Part 1

Here is a match between Angle and Benoit that on paper was just another Smackdown main event, but when you put Angle and Benoit across the ring from another, Magic always happens these two men have wrestled each other numerous times during their respective WWE careers, but each time they didn’t let their last match outshine the next one. Here is an example of just one of their hard hitting matches.
