As the team finishes up a quick home and home series with the Atlanta Braves, we finally get to see the first meeting between Boston and the New York Yankees this season starting Friday night. Not only is it the first meeting between the two this year, it’s also the first time I will be in attendance for a game in this historic rivalry.
Red Sox pitching has been a little shaky thus far this season however the bats are very much alive. We will get to see them against the Yankees 3 top pitchers.
Friday night (the game I will be at) we get to see Masahiro Tanaka (1-0 2.92 ERA) face off against Henry Owens (0-0 8.10 ERA). Owens struggles in his debut the season but did pitch well last year against the Bronx Bombers.
The second game we will see surprise Rick Porcello (4-0 3.51 ERA) opposed by Michael Pineda. Pineda is 1-2 with a 6.95 ERA. Porcello has pitched very well throughout the young season. Hopefully he can continue to be effective.
In the final game of the series, Ace David Price (3-0 5.76 ERA) will pitch against Nathan Eovaldi who is 1-2 with a 4.38 ERA. Price was dominant in his last start pitching 8 innings racking up 14 strikeouts. Let’s just hope the Red Sox can sweep!
