For the first time is my life, hockey is not the only thing on my mind. Check my sanity but, I am just as interested in this year’s NBA Finals than I am in the Stanley Cup Final.
Both are featuring two of the most exciting teams in their respective sports. For hockey it’s the men from Chicago chasing a dynasty, and the boys from Tampa trying to shock the world. I have no idea who is going to win this series and that’s what playoff hockey is all about. The incredible uncertainty that leaves you feeling like someone punched you in the gut one second and gives you the sensation like Kate Upton just kissed you on the cheek the next.
My heart says Tampa wins this in 7 but my gut says Chicago. Toews and Kane both with a point in last night’s win gives you a good indicator that they’re starting to turn into their super-human, cup-winning selves.
On the other side of the spectrum, it’s Lebron looking for his 3rd title in his 6th Finals appearance. Usually that alone doesn’t make me want to watch 3 hours of basketball but it’s a little different this year. Instead of seeing him and his “Big 3” going for gold, it’s just him and a cast of unlikely heroes. Not to mention they’re going up against the best defensive team in the league who also happen to have two of the best shooters in the game, one being probably the best shooter ever in Steph Curry. And Lebron is leading the series 2-1. From what everyone else has been saying, it’s a shock that he’s not down 3-0.
I don’t like Lebron but he’s playing the best basketball i’ve ever seen without being a huge puss-bag. He’s playing gutsy, hard-nose basketball for the first time and I love watching it (feels like hockey kinda but not really). The games are low scoring thanks to a lot of tough defense. Love that. Basketball, you’re hooking me in.
Does it have anything to do with the Australian playing like a possessed demon? Like 99%, Delly for days.
That picture (above) is my expression about 100% of the time watching these series. Sports, man.
