Last night was supposed to be the night where Jon Bones Jones would fall. Not so fast my friends, Bones once again asserted his dominance over Daniel Cormier. Which brings into question, whose next for the champ? Bones has been nothing short of stellar in his time with the UFC. Impressive victories over names like Lyoto Machida, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and “Suga” Rashad Evans are just a few of his victims.
Bones is no one trick pony, he wins in all sorts of ways. One fight he will knockout his opponent, the next fight will go the distance. You just don’t know with this guys. Last nights fight was just another example of his stamina. In the late rounds, challenger Daniel Cormier wasn’t able to muster up anything. Jones used those championship rounds to take over the fight.
Whose next for the Champ? Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson has been his toughest adversary to date. He’s the only one who matches Jones’s stamina and could be the one to dethrone the champ.
One guy who I’d love to see fight Bones, is Middleweight champ Chris Weidman. Weidman, in my opinion, is one of the best in MMA. He’s got KO power and is a former division 1 wrestler. This New Jersey native could also take out the champ.
As a former die-hard, now casual fan of MMA, Jon Jones makes the sport interesting. Jones has the power of a heavyweight but the quickness of a welterweight. His finesse and strength are what make fight fans believe he is possibly the best ever.
Jones will have to wait though. He will await the winner of Gustafsson and Anthony Johnson. All signs though point to a retaining of the belt whoever whom he may face.
For now though, Jones eyes will be on the matchup between his two brothers. Chandler who plays for the New England Patriots and Arthur who plays for the Baltimore Ravens. Wish we could have seen the 3 interact when they were young, must have been a war at home.
